About the session:
- Online: Via MS Teams
- Places unlimited
- For all staff across BOB and Frimley: Patient-facing and non-patient facing staff. Clinical and non-clinical. Students are welcome.
This session supports staff to feel more confident when guiding patients through reflective and pro-active health-based conversations – using motivational interviewing techniques – supporting them to explore and resolve ambivalence or hesitancy to change. It is about arranging conversations so that people talk themselves into change based on their own values and interests.
Motivational Interviewing helps patients to communicate the positive aspect of change, make their own decisions, set personal goals and formulate their own solutions for healthier behaviours, build a level of importance and readiness, further improving their capability to succeed.
Though the session is delivered through the lens of patient care, motivational interviewing is a core coaching technique which can be used as part of staff health and wellbeing and career conversations as well as family members!
Following the session, you will receive a certificate of attendance, reading list and conversation toolkit.
