Season’s Greetings from RVA

Dear friends, supporters, partners, and Reading’s amazing Voluntary and Community Sector!

We are reflecting on another super busy year. This year included, among many other things, our well-attended Volunteer Fair in June, and some lively and creative Befriending Forums in June and September.

In the summer we moved to our fabulous new home, RISC, after over 10 years at Reading Central Library. In October we were delighted to receive NAVCA’s Local Infrastructure Quality Accreditation.

The Community Wellness Outreach project – in partnership with the Meet PEET Team from Royal Berkshire Hospital, Reading Borough Council, GP surgeries, Berkshire West Primary Care Alliance and the Voluntary and Community Sector in Reading – reached several milestones this year. The project has provided over 4,000 health checks in 20 different venues in the community. The health checks and advice provided by the CWO team are for those who face the biggest health inequalities in our town. Here are just a couple of examples of lovely feedback:

Really appreciate the effort and the thought behind the initiative. Staff were polite, detailed and supportive throughout. Grateful for services like this. We should have more and more initiatives running like this.

This is a wonderful service. Thank you for serving our community!
