Help our residents get the most out of life
Abbeyfield Reading is looking for an enthusiastic, volunteer trustee to act as our Treasurer to help us enhance the quality of life for older people. We believe that we all deserve to enjoy our later years and get the most out of life – whatever our individual circumstances. Our charity fulfils this mission at Abbeyfield House, a care home, where we offer care, support and services in a friendly home-from-home environment to 28 residents. Our team has been working very hard in the last few months to provide a high level of care during the COVID-19 crisis, protecting our residents and staff as much as possible.
As Treasurer you would be responsible for overseeing the financial matters of the charity in line with good practice and in accordance with the governing documents and legal requirements. Reporting to the board of trustees at regular intervals about the financial health of the organisation, you would ensure that effective financial measures, controls and procedures are in place. Additional responsibilities include pensions and adherence to Abbeyfield Quality Standards. Day-to-day accounting is done by an administrator using the Xero package.
We’re looking for someone with a sound financial background. The role would take a few hours of your time each week and the board meets four times a year. The previous Treasurer is available to carry out a full handover and provide support.
We will require references and we’ll need to conduct a DBS check.
