Information / Advice volunteers needed for Launchpad Reading in RG31

Our current Drop-In Housing Advice Volunteers are seeking for 2 additional people to join them every Monday.

Our Drop-In is open to members of the public to offer advice, guidance and support with housing or homelessness related issues.

If you have the following skills, our Launchpad Drop-In Role could be the one for you:

  • Good team work ethic
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Personable; having the ability to talk to people with varied needs
  • Knowledge and understanding of the issues for homeless clients
  • Confidence to give relevant and appropriate information and advice relating to our client group’s needs
  • Passionate about making a difference to our client group’s independence and stability
  • Empathy for our client’s risks and needs
  • Comfortable communicating in writing, on the telephone and one-to-one
  • Comfortable supporting our client group with a variety of needs whilst maintaining appropriate boundaries.

Ideally some basic knowledge around the topics below but not essential:

  • Homelessness
  • Tenancy sustainment
  • Benefits
  • Substance misuse
  • Alcohol misuse

On the role training will be given by a staff member and you will also join the wider volunteering team of 100 people who currently support Launchpad each month.
