Help keep our mobility aids service on the road

Transport / Driving volunteer needed for British Red Cross – Thames Valley Area in RG1

Mobility Aids Driver – Kindness is at the heart of what we do

If you like to help others, want to contribute locally in your community and can volunteer on Tuesday from 9.30 to 5.00 pm approx. we would like to hear from you.

The Red Cross is a volunteer led organisation, that responds to local crisis’s as well as nationally. Often people are discharged from hospital without the short term mobility aids equipment that they need, or maybe they just need a wheelchair to take a parent or child to a hospital appointment. Whatever their need, we are there to assist them or to signpost them to the correct organisation.

To help us we are seeking Volunteer Drivers for our local Mobility Aids Outlet in Reading. You will collect our van and used mobility aids equipment from Reading before driving to Newbury. Then drive to our Hub in Crawley where you will unload and take your lunch break. Next, you will load serviced and cleaned mobility aids equipment which you will deliver to Newbury and Reading. Occasionally there may be be local customer deliveries too. You will be working as part of a small team of two and will receive training on the job as well as attending a two day Induction Course.

Ideally, you will be a competent driver, be willing to be trained in the safety aspects of our equipment, be trained on our procedures including a small amount of paperwork, and also how to demonstrate our equipment.
