Do your bit to support the armed services and their families

Befriending / Visiting volunteers needed for Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen’s Families Association (SSAFA) in RG30

SSAFA – the Armed Forces charity is seeking volunteer Caseworkers in Reading.

Caseworkers provide social and welfare assistance to those who have served or are serving in the Armed Forces and their families. Volunteer Caseworkers offer practical, emotional and financial support to meet individual needs.

Caseworkers visit people in their own homes to help assess the needs of those seeking support from SSAFA. Caseworkers then approach service and civilian charities, identified through our extensive database and in discussion with fellow Caseworkers, allowing access to funds for individuals in appropriate circumstances.

The requests for help we receive are very diverse, from access to funds to buy new furniture to sourcing start-up money to launch a enterprise, so there is plenty of variety in the role.

Good people skills are essential and a knowledge of IT will be useful.
