Barbershop Uncut Stories

What really happens when you go into the barbershop?

The jokes. The banter. The debates. The advice nobody asked for. The conversations that only happen in the barber’s chair.

But what happens when one of those conversations takes an unexpected turn?

Men, masculinity, family, health and the conversations that we don’t always have, take centre stage in Reading this October. Barbershop Uncut Stories comes to Reading Rep Theatre during Black History Month, following successful performances in London.

Set in a barbershop, the play explores the conversations that can be difficult for men to have, using humour, storytelling and real conversations to explore men’s health, vulnerability, masculinity and prostate cancer.

The Reading performances take place on Friday 16 October and Friday 23 October 2026 and are being delivered in partnership with NHS Thames Valley Cancer Alliance. Tickets are free.
