Introduction – overview of the funding
The Groundwork Grassroots Grants Programme is provided by the Postcode Local Trust, Postcode Places Trust, and Postcode Society Trust, and is administered by Groundwork.
Grassroots Grants provides unrestricted funding for small, local organisations in England who are making a positive difference in their communities.
Who is eligible to apply?
Applications are accepted from small, local, constituted voluntary and community organisations, including registered charities, with an annual income of less than £25,000 in the last financial year.
What are the funder priorities?
Priority will be given to organisations that meet the following criteria:
- Have an annual income of £25,000 or under.
- Funding is for work in communities that rank as being within the top 15% on the English Indices of Deprivation.
- Organisations that work with and support communities that are classed as marginalised or vulnerable.
How much can organisations apply for?
Grants of between £500 and £2,000.
What the funding can be used for
Funding can be used for core organisational costs that support the important work organisations deliver in their communities. The funding offered is unrestricted and therefore flexible. It can be used where it is most needed.
Is there a deadline?
The Grassroot Grants programme is open until 12:00pm on Tuesday 14 October 2025.
