Crowdfunder Cost of Living Emergency Fund

Grants are available through this match funding scheme to assist not-for-profit organisations in the UK who are helping to tackle food poverty relating to the cost of living crisis.

Please note that this is a  match-funding initiative and thus not a traditional grant scheme (funds awarded are conditional upon applicants first securing crowdfunding via Crowdfunder’s platform).

What are the funder priorities?

The funding is for community organisations that are helping to tackle food poverty in their local area.

The funding could be used for projects such as the following (not limited to):

  • Supporting the creation or continuation of foodbanks.
  • Providing support to those helping to provide free meals for children during the summer holidays.
  • Providing food budgeting or food education support to those in financial difficulties.
  • Reducing food waste and therefore food costs through community fridge creation/continuation.
How much can you apply for?

A maximum of £5,000 of match funding is available for any organisation.

Projects need to be delivered by 31 December 2023.

The funder will match donations pound for pound up to £250 until the funds are fully allocated.

Every donation made towards the project will be matched up to £250. If, for example, the project receives a donation of £20, an additional £20 will be added. If the project receives a donation of £600 then it will receive an additional £250.

Only one donation per supporter will be matched.

Who can apply?

Applications will be accepted from:

  • Registered UK Charities.

What can you spend the money on?

The funding is for revenue costs related to projects that are focused on helping to resolve cost of living issues around food poverty and food education.

How to apply?

The first step is for applicants to set up a crowdfunding campaign on Crowdfunder. Campaigns typically run for 28 days but take a few weeks to create so groups should allow about six weeks in total.

Before they start crowdfunding, applicants should read the full Terms and Conditions as well as the Eligibility Criteria which can be found on the Crowdfunder website.

Is there a deadline?

The fund will close when all the funding is allocated.
