On Saturday 1st February, Aldworth Philharmonic Orchestra is producing their first relaxed performances*, and we need your help to create these accessible events. We are looking for volunteers to assist on the day.
The performances are at 2pm and 4.30pm, but the times shown allow for briefings and to be in position when the house opens/for a short time at the end of the performance(s).
Both relaxed performances (12.45pm-4.30pm)
The first relaxed performance (12.45pm-3.15pm)
The second relaxed performance (3.15pm-5.45pm)
You will be helping to support the event by:
- Greeting people at the concert, being our friendly welcome
- Answering questions about the show, giving directions and collecting feedback
- Talking with audience members who are autistic or have other neurodiversities
- Assisting audience members with physical disabilities
- Assisting with set up on the day; setting up of seating
Skills, experience and qualities needed
- Be happy and confident talking with audience members
- Friendly and approachable
- Reliable and flexible to take on different tasks
- Some knowledge and/or experience of autism useful but not essential

* Our relaxed concerts our more informal than traditional concerts and there will be a particularly relaxed attitude towards noise and movement during the music. The aim will be to welcome everyone for a shared cultural experience, with the particular aim of making the concerts more accessible to children and young people:
- with autism
- with sensory and communication impairments
- with learning or physical disabilities
- who are deaf or hard of hearing
- who are blind or partially sighted
