Reading Fringe Festival is back again for a seventh year and this year it is even bigger and better. The event starts on Friday 19th July and ends on Sunday 28th July and in order for it to run like a well-oiled machine we need lots of lovely volunteers.
For each show, we need a venue manager and up to four stewards. Any time you can contribute is welcome, but we do ask that you are available for at least two slots of roughly 2 hours during Fringe week, as well as one training session of roughly 1 hour, in the run-up to the Fringe.
As a thank-you for your time, you will receive a free ticket to a Fringe show of your choice, and you may be able to watch shows that you are stewarding.
Our tech team also relies on volunteer help. If you have a yen for lighting and sound operation and would be interested in being part of the Fringe tech team, then we’d love to hear from you! We have a tech team member in each venue, providing support to the artists, and on occasion operating shows (if booked in advance).
We also do lots of marketing before the festival. You’ll be seeing us in our bright orange t-shirts handing out programmes at many Reading events between now and the festival opening. We are planning to be at Reading Carnival, Waterfest, East Reading Festival, Reading Buses Open Day, Readipop and Bastille Day – if you are going along to any of these and feel able to help us for a short while then please tell us and we’ll tell you when and where we are going to be.
