Reading Community Learning Centre (RCLC) is seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and committed trustee to ensure the organisation is effectively managed, and give time as a volunteer to help with fundraising to Trusts, charities, statutory agencies and businesses.
The Board of Trustees takes collective responsibility for the management of RCLC, a charity and company limited by guarantee. As well as devoting the necessary time, you will have strategic vision, independent judgement, an ability to think creatively and a willingness to speak your mind. We are keen to achieve a more diverse board of trustees and welcome applications from all sections of the community. We are a lively friendly Board who are very committed to the Centre.
Role Description and Specification
This role is a voluntary position and is not remunerated. Reasonable expenses will be reimbursed, in accordance with our policies. Our Chair of Trustees, with a strong involvement in fundraising, needs to reduce her role for family reasons, and we are looking for a new trustee with some background in fundraising to work with the Fundraising subgroup. With only 3 part time staff, the Board are significantly involved in raising the funding to maintain the organisation. Preparing individual funding applications can involve significant time commitment on a short term basis. As well as small contracts with the local authority, and government grants, we have been successful fundraising from some bigger trusts in the past. We would like to build relationships with businesses in the Thames Valley.
