Looking for experience in the arts or events industry? Become a valued member of a small team working to improve Reading’s cultural identity through greater access to the arts.

Outrider Anthems is holding a number of events in Reading throughout 2017 as part of the community project Festival of the Dark. This is a year-long arts festival supported by Reading Borough Council, Arts Council England and a number of local organisations.

Centred on the theme of ‘darkness’, there are over 25 events and workshops taking place in Reading throughout 2017. These are be focused yet diverse, with commissioned installations, music, wild events in nature, theatrical performances, street processions and keynote speakers, exploring darkness physically, scientifically, psychologically, emotionally, spiritually, environmentally.

We are opening applications for volunteers to support the festival’s marketing and the running of these events, especially throughout the week DAZZLE on 1-10th Sept 2017. Timetable attached below.

The following volunteer roles are available:
Steward (at specific events);
An extra pair of hands to help set up for events. A friendly and approachable manner, being attentive to attendees needs on site. As a bonus you will likely be able to see some if not all of the event. If required, help clear up after.

Publicity Distributor (flexible hours);
Liaising with our marketing assistant handing out flyers, supporting social media sites and helping to promote events. This is great way to meet the community and get to know the Reading area. It is also crucial for the sustainability of these projects.

All volunteers get free access to our events and references can be provided upon request.

Public transport links, wheelchair access and car parking should be available at most venues but please check specifically.
