Our volunteers support and enable people with a physical disability to take up, or return to, a hobby, interest, sporting activity or learning opportunity which they cannot do without some help or support. This support is mainly about giving confidence, understanding and emotional support to bring colour to our members’ lives.

Cooking and crafting

Until fairly recently this lady was an active and enthusiastic teaching assistant then she became ill and had to give up work.  She is now confined to a wheelchair and misses the stimulation and fun of being with lots of other people.

She is a keen cook and enjoys crochet, sewing, knitting, board games and other peoples’ company.  She is very family-orientated.

She is looking for a volunteer to visit her at home and chat, play games such as Scrabble or enjoy crafting or cookery together.

Once the access from her home is better, the volunteer may like to go out and about using their own car or the Readibus with her to places of interest.
