The Reading City of Sanctuary Project seeks to establish Reading as a place of welcome for refugees and asylum seekers. It aims to provide a Reading wide framework to encourage and promote opportunities for cohesion. This will combat community disintegration as different cultural communities withdraw into themselves as a result of increasing concerns over public immigration fears.

Our strategy is to work as a grassroots movement, creating a network of organisations who have agreed to the declaration and signed the pledge. The key message we want to publicise is one of reciprocal advantages and benefits to any organisation wishing to become a CoS group.
