73rd Reading (Park) Scout Group is committed to offering Scouting opportunities to young people in Reading, with our main catchment coming from the areas of East Reading, Earley, Woodley, Cemetery Junction etc. We offer opportunities for children of all ages from age 6 – 8 (Beaver Scouts), 8 – 10.5 (Cub Scouts), 10.5 – 14 (Scouts) and 14 – 18 (Explorer Scouts) to meet in a safe friendly environment outside of school, and enjoy different games and activities having fun learning valuable life skills.

The Scout Association provides adventurous activities and personal development opportunities for 400,000 young people aged 6-25. Internationally, we have over 28 million young people enjoying the benefits of Scouting across 216 countries. Personal development means promoting the physical, intellectual, social and spiritual well-being of the individual, helping them achieve their full potential. In Scouting, we believe that young people develop most when they are ‘learning by doing,’ when they are given responsibility, work in teams, take acceptable risks and think for themselves.

We at Park Scouts have seen considerable growth over the past 3 years, having opened a second Beaver Colony to cope with the increased demand for young people to join Scouting, and opened a brand new Explorer Scout Troop to provide further opportunities to Scouts when they reach the age of 14 to continue with their Scouting adventures
