We are a Registered Charity and aim to promote the spiritual, social and general well-being of people who are deaf or hard of hearing in the diocese.

ODCD aim to:

Maintain worship, in BSL language of sign and with opportunities for leadership and full participation, among deaf congregations (either separately or integrated with hearing congregations, according to local opportunities) at 7 different centres throughout the diocese

Promote pastoral visiting to keep in touch with the increasingly dispersed deaf population and to work in partnership with social services

Raise awareness in the hearing church of the needs and potential contribution of deaf people so that they may play as full a part in the life of the Church and community as possible
