Reading Playcafes is a Community Interest Company that began operation as a community cafe in Palmer Park in 2011. The company aims to provide child and family friendly venues that focus particularly upon the needs and interests of children and their carers.

Reading Playcafes currently provide an accessible community space and parent/carer hub offering safe, clean play facilities for children, ethically sourced refreshments and recreational, social, educational and information-based opportunities both for individuals and for groups, including people who may be on the social margins.

There is a weekly programme of activities and events for families and children from across Reading designed to help promote health, nutrition, education and sports. Service providers and health professionals are invited into the community centre allowing them to gain access to social groups that they cannot reach through traditional channels.
