Help a young person to build their self-esteem and confidence
Learning support / Mentoring volunteers needed for Thames Valley Partnership
Our Early Intervention Team support young people to channel their energy and time in positive ways to help prevent them from becoming involved in anti-social behaviour or crime.
Volunteer mentors meet once a week with a young person aged 13-18 years of age who has been referred to us by the Police. The referral is usually because the young person has come to the attention of the Police although not necessarily been convicted of a crime.
Volunteers should be patient and great listeners, able to converse with young people and work with them to identify and engage in opportunities that they will enjoy. The ability to find common ground and get involved in an activity is preferable, whether it be sport, cooking, craft, learning etc. Building the young persons self esteem and confidence is key.
