Sarah chairs RVA Board meetings and manages the CEO on behalf of the Board, taking overall responsibility for RVA’s strategy and monitoring of delivery. Sarah worked in rail management for 28 years, ultimately developing major new projects. Since then, she has volunteered and worked for a range of local charities including homelessness advice, coaching for women and fair trade/refills shop management.
While she was still working, Sarah was involved in running Tilehurst Swimming Club, setting up and subsequently chairing the committee for a number of years. Since taking early retirement in 2015, she has undertaken a diverse range of voluntary roles in Reading, developing a good understanding of the challenges faced by charities against a backdrop of budget cuts and ever increasing demand for their services by the diverse community.
