Macmillan Cancer Education Project is being implemented by RHL, a registered charity in Rushmoor in partnership with Berkshire West Clinical Commissioning Group (BWCCG) and Royal Bershire Hospital since 2017 March. The project targets the BWCCG area including South Reading and West Berkshire. The project is funded by Macmillan Cancer Support. Nisha Sharma from RHL is leading this project. The main aim of the project is to address and improve health inequalities in accessing cancer services. It will seek to identify the main barriers to accessing cancer services by deprived communities including seldom heard groups (e.g BAME communities, and improve uptake of screening programme, (cervical, bowel, and breast cancer screening) and also develop volunteers to support community and cancer patients. The project works with both community and health professionals to achieve its goals.
