We provide a community mediation service for people in Berkshire and Oxfordshire covering all types of neighbour disputes, workplace disputes, and also family disputes that may lead to the young person becoming homeless. Our referrals come from local authority housing, social services departments, the police, and other agencies. We provide training in mediation skills both to local people, to our referrers (housing officers, police) and undergraduate law students from Reading University. We also work with schools to train young people in conflict resolution skills. There are also noticeable further benefits in terms of improved attitudes to learning and school attendance, and improved self-esteem.
