The ODCD is a registered charity and works with deaf and hard of hearing people to meet their spiritual, social and general needs, and to give them a voice and full participation in church and society.

There is a vital need for informal pastoral care in a world where deaf and hard of hearing people often experience isolation and loneliness because of their communication difficulties. In conjunction with Social Services, the ODCD has a team of volunteers in order to visit these people on a regular basis to offer support and friendship.
