The Strategic Lead for Ageing Well acts as a member of GBA’s SLT and is responsible for driving our work associated with supporting Older Adults within Berkshire to be more active.
National policy and guidance as well as local strategies and plans identify key challenges and recommendations for this particular cohort and we believe GBA has a key role to play. Our long-term ambition is to ensure GBA becomes a ‘go-to’ part of the local systems and networks associated with this strategic theme and physical activity becomes embedded in local pathways that interact with older people.
Day to day work to achieve this is varied and involves forming connections and exploring collaborations at all levels – from strategic to grassroots. Ensuring successful delivery of contracts engaging older people is key to strengthening our relationships with strategic partners.
This role also functions as the key liaison with Berkshire West Local Authority colleagues, sharing with them key GBA updates and exploring opportunities to collaborate on shared goals. Finally, as is the nature of small charities this role involves a variety of additional duties that support not only other areas of work but also support organisational related functions.
