Reading Mencap is launching an exciting new club for young people with learning disabilities aged 18-25 and we need a well organised Leader to run it.
The Saturday 18 – 25 Club will offer activities including sport, gaming and drama and help its members develop life and social skills.
The club will be held on a Saturday for 45 weeks of the year from 10.30am – 3.30pm.
The Club Leader will have responsibility for the development and management of the club, the activities, the Deputy Club Leader, Club Assistant and volunteers.
This role will suit a calm and well organised person who has experience of working with young people with learning disabilities in either a care or educational setting.
Tasks will include planning the club’s programme, leading the weekly sessions, safeguarding, keeping accurate records and carrying out risk assessments.
A good standard of spoken and written English is required along with basic IT and administrative skills. An NVQ Level 2 or higher in care or its equivalent is desirable.
The Club Leader will have additional paid hours for planning, setting and clearing up.
