Parenting Special Children (PSC) delivers 2 autistic/ADHD children and young people’s after school projects
- Auticulate is a social interaction group for autistic/ADHD children and young people aged between 8-16 in mainstream schools. The main aim is to support members to develop and practice social communication and life skills through a programme of education, discussion, role play, peer mentoring and real-life practice.
- Interact is a social interaction group course after-school 6-week course, for autistic/ADHD children and young people aged, junior 8-11 and senior 11-16, in mainstream school, supporting members developing social communication techniques.
The main purpose of the role is:
- Auticulate: to plan and deliver weekly groups for autistic/ADHD children and young people, alternate weeks, first week aged 8-11, second week aged 12-16
- Interact: to plan and deliver a six week programme for autistic/ADHD primary aged children aged 8 to 11 and a six week programme for autistic/ADHD secondary aged young people aged 12 to 16 (awaiting or diagnosis of autism and/or ADHD) attending a mainstream school
- To maintain accurate administration records and communication with families
- To plan and deliver one off holiday events
- To manage a small team of staff and volunteers involved in Auticulate and Interact
