Macmillan Welfare Benefits Caseworker – closing date 22 January 2023

Citizens Advice Reading works in partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support to provide welfare benefits advice to people affected by cancer across Berkshire.

Our small team is highly supportive and collaborative, working with the pressures of high demand for our service and clients who are often very ill.

We now have a vacancy for a paid caseworker to join the team. Main responsibilities of the role will be:

Managing your own benefits advice caseload
Supporting the volunteer members of the team
Contributing to the continued quality and development of the service.

We are looking for a skilled adviser, ideally, with Citizens Advice or equivalent training and experience. You will also need:

A good knowledge of welfare benefits, especially sickness and disability benefits
The ability to manage a demanding caseload
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Analytical, numeracy and IT skills

You would also need to be comfortable working in a hospital environment and empathetic and sensitive to the needs of people with cancer.

Trainee roles may be considered for the right candidate.
