Reading Mencap is looking for a Deputy Club Leader for our Gateway Club. This role is for 3 hours a week on a Tuesday evening during term-time including half-terms for 41 weeks a year.

This role would suit someone who enjoys helping others and who has good communication skills along with an adaptable and flexible attitude.

Gateway Club is a popular social club for adults with a learning disability, which meets on a Tuesday evening. It aims to ensure people with a learning disability have opportunities to socialise and be active in the community, make friends and improve their sense of wellbeing.

The Deputy Club Leader will support the Club Leader to ensure members have the level of support they need to access the club’s activities.

Tasks will include helping to plan the Gateway Club programme, helping members get the most out of the club, contributing to risk assessments and ensuring the effective use of volunteers.

This role would be ideal for someone who has experience working with adults with learning disabilities or in another caring role and who enjoys working independently and within a small team.

Good communication skills are essential along with an adaptable and flexible attitude.
