Health inequalities – how can we work together to reduce the differences in health between different groups of people?

Wednesday 5 May 2021

Public health partners across the area have asked the voluntary sector and the public to identify priorities for a new Health and Wellbeing strategy, to improve the health of our communities.

The top priority identified across all areas is reducing the differences in health between different groups of people. Join us to discuss what this means to you, your members and communities and how a difference could be made. The agenda includes:

Dr Sarah Rayfield – Acting Consultant in Public Health for West Berkshire Council

Sarah has led the development of the strategy and will share the background and engagement.

Identifying the barriers and challenges for specific groups
  • Kate Stonehouse – Reading Mencap
  • Fran Yates – Communicare
  • Nick Harborne – RRSG
  • Aisha Malik – Reading Community Learning Centre
This will be followed by break out groups to consider:
  • The factors, environment and characteristics impacting on health outcomes.
  • How will we know when a difference has been made.
