Introduction – overview of the funding
The True Colours Trust provides grants to help support families, children and young people in the UK with complex disabilities and/or life-limiting and life-threatening conditions. The Trust seeks to bring about better lives for children and their families through a broad mix of research, advocacy, service delivery and innovation.
Their grant-making is focused on the following areas:
- Improving service delivery and support offered to children with complex disabilities, their families and siblings in the UK.
- Strengthening palliative care services for children and their families in the UK.
Who is eligible to apply?
Applications are accepted from UK registered charitable organisations and community interest companies that:
- Have an annual income of less than £350,000.
- Are delivering projects in the UK.
- Are working with children and young people aged from 0-25 years.
- Are open to children and families of all faiths, backgrounds and cultures.
What are the funder priorities?
The Trust is particularly keen to receive applications from organisations which operate in areas of high deprivation.
How much can organisations apply for?
Grants of up to £10,000 are available, although many grants are smaller than this.
What the funding can be used for?
Grants can be used for the following:
Projects :
- Activities for disabled children, children with life-limiting conditions and their families.
Activities which support siblings of disabled children or siblings of children with life-limiting conditions. - Bereavement support for children and young people and for families bereaved of a child.
- Family support / parent-led peer support for parents of disabled children.
- Respite which supports the whole family.
Equipment and Materials:
- Renovation, upgrading and additional equipment for hydrotherapy pools and multi-sensory rooms.
- Minibuses.
- Specialised play equipment/access to play and leisure for disabled children, children with life-limiting conditions and their families.
Is there a deadline?
There is no deadline and applications can be made at any time. The Trust aims to respond to applications with a final decision within eight weeks.
