National Trustees’ Week is a dedicated week each year where charities up and down the country celebrate the role and contribution from volunteer trustees, who are one of the cornerstones of the voluntary sector. Trustees are unpaid volunteers who bring valuable skills, experience and passion for social action in our communities. In a nutshell, charities wouldn’t be able to run without you!
Anyone who has ever taken on this position will know that it is bittersweet: the role can be extremely rewarding, knowing you are part of a sector bringing crucial services to those most in need, but it can also be a deeply challenging role where difficult decisions need to be made.
This year, RVA will be celebrating the role of trustees in Reading by collecting your stories to share widely with the sector, funders, and those who might be interested in taking on the role or supporting the sector, for example through mentoring. We will do this through our social media platforms and the stories will be shared during Trustees’ Week from 4-8 November 2019.
How you can take part
1: Submit your trustee story by completing this short online survey by Friday 4 October 2019.
2: Attend one of two photo shoot opportunities so we have a great snap of you to use with your quote. The photo shoots will take place on:
- 1 October (between 1.30 and 4pm)
- 3 October (between 5 and 7pm)
These should only take a few moments and will operate on a drop-in basis, but please let us know your preferred slot in the survey.
We look forward to hearing from you!
