Does your organisation have a project that would be suitable for an intern to work on for a period 4-8 weeks? Then the Reading Internship Scheme could be for you!
The University of Reading launched its flagship employability scheme, the Reading Internship Scheme for the 22/23 academic year. The scheme connects students and employers through paid internships (grants available to support your interns’ salary) and we are now accepting employer registrations!
What is RIS?
The Reading Internship Scheme offers University of Reading undergraduate students the opportunity to undertake 4, 6, or 8 week paid internships with professionals. It allows organisations to connect with students who are motivated, proactive, and keen to experience the working-world. By hiring one of our talented students, they will be able to assist you in a project that you may be looking to gain some extra resource in, or some work that could do with a fresh perspective, for up to 280 hours (8-week full time equivalent).
- Open to charities, non-profits and SMEs (up to 250 employees)
- You pick the project you’d like the student to work on – whatever you feel would add value to your business
- Internships can run throughout the year, not just summer
- Organisations can take on an intern on a part-time basis during term time or full time during non-term time – it’s up to you!
- The University provides a grant towards the interns’ salary (50% to profit earning organisations and 100% to charities)
- We support in-person, remote, and hybrid internships
- Students get valuable work experience, insight into different sectors and your business benefits from fresh ideas that could really make an impact – it’s a win- win!
