In a role that involves supporting people facing financial stress?

Learn to have a conversation that could save a life

Buckinghamshire Mind, on behalf of Health Education England, is offering free virtual Suicide First Aid training to public sector, community or charity employees or volunteers in Berkshire who regularly work with people facing financial stress.

Most people thinking of suicide never get an opportunity to have an open conversation, and many make the biggest decision of their life without talking through what their intentions are. Attend one of the following free sessions to learn a step-by-step guide to recognise and help someone who is thinking of taking their life to consider their options and stay safe. Both sessions are run by the National Centre for Suicide Prevention Training UK and have been specially adapted to be safe and engaging in a virtual environment.

Suicide First Aid Lite

This easy-to-grasp session will give you the first step in greater understanding and confidence to intervene with people at risk of suicide. Suitable for those with no prior knowledge of the subject, you’ll gain the skills needed to identify someone who may be thinking about suicide and how to direct them to a suicide first aider for further support.

Suicide First Aid Through Understanding Suicide Intervention

This City & Guilds accredited programme will give you more in-depth knowledge and an opportunity to practice the skills needed to identify someone who may be thinking about suicide and competently intervene to help create suicide-safety as a first aid approach. No prior training or experience is necessary.
