Food for Life Get Togethers – small grants deadline 22 February 2022

Food for Life Get Togethers are regular community activities that connect people from all ages and backgrounds through food. Using funding from the National Lottery Community Fund, the Soil Association is offering small grants for activities taking place within Plant and Share Month.

Who can apply?
  • The grant is open to not-for-profit groups and settings.
  • If you want to have a Get Togethers activity with people from households or your neighbourhood you will need to apply for the grant through a not-for-profit group that has its own bank account.   
  • Applications will not be accepted from anyone who has previously had a Food for Life Get Togethers Small Grant and can only offer one grant per organisation.
  • Anyone in the UK can apply.
What is the project eligibility?

They are looking for food-based community projects that:

  • are focused on a Plant and Share activity and happen within Plant and Share Month
  • have potential to be long term
  • are community led
  • include people from disadvantaged and diverse communities
  • bring people together
  • reduce experience of loneliness or social isolation
  • encourage a positive attitude to ageing and diversity
How much can you apply for?

Applicants can apply for grants of £150, to help them take part in Plant and Share Month.

What the funding can be used for?
  • To host a community gathering and bring people together through food growing, cooking and food sharing.
  • The grant may be used only for the purposes outlined by your organisation in your grant application as approved by the Food for Life Get Togethers.
  • Grants must be spent within 6 months of receipt.
  • The grant cannot be transferred to another third party.
  • A financial safeguarding will be carried out to check on a sample of successful applicants.

Applications are now open, to apply for a grant you must complete both steps:

  1. Register your activity
  2. Complete the grant application form
Is there a deadline?

The closing date for applications is 5pm on Tuesday 22 February 2022. The funding applications will be closed early if it gets oversubscribed.
