Family Fund grants – helping disabled and seriously ill children

Family Fund helps families across the UK who are raising a disabled or seriously ill child or young person aged 17 or under.

Family Fund have received £10 million from the Department for Education to provide extra grants for families on low incomes raising disabled children in England. Families can usually apply once a year for a Family Fund grant, but with this emergency funding, those who have not received a grant on or since 1 April 2020 can apply again. This is to ensure those that need it get financial help during the current crisis.

Families can apply for grants for essential items to make life easier during the ongoing crisis. The grants can be used to buy computers and play equipment as well as household items such as cookers and fridges. Read more about what you can apply for here.

Who can apply?

Families who can apply to Family Fund will be in receipt of one of the following benefits: Universal Credit, Child Tax Credit, Working Tax Credit, Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance, Income Related Employment Support Allowance, Income Support, Housing Benefit, Pension Credit.
