Reading, Place of Culture invites voluntary sector organisations, cultural and arts groups to attend to attend a ‘Cultural Commissioning Ready’ workshop on Thursday 13 December, 11am – 1pm in the RVA Training Room, Third Floor, Reading Central Library.
What is ‘Cultural Commissioning’?
The Reading Cultural Commissioning programme, launched in 2018, aims to mainstream the commissioning of cultural activities for social outcomes. RBC is looking to fund cross-sector partnership projects that will use the arts, culture and heritage to improve life chances, health, well-being and quality of life of Reading residents and communities. There is a particular focus on addressing the needs of local people, particularly those who are excluded and less likely to access cultural opportunities.
In January 2019, the second cycle of funding will be launched. A further three funds will be available. This funding is a chance for cultural and arts organisations to work in partnership with public services and the voluntary and community sector.
Year 2 Funding Strands will be:
1. Elderly Care – £15,000
Arts, culture and heritage programmes to work with older people, particularly those with long term conditions and in areas of higher deprivation.
2. Mental Health & Well-Being – £30,000 (funded in partnership with BCF)
Using arts, culture and heritage for early intervention, prevention, coping or self-management for mental health conditions and positive wellbeing.
3. Short Breaks – £15,000 (TBC £30,000) (funded in partnership with RBC Children, Education & Early Help Services)
Extending the range of cultural Short Breaks (enjoyable experiences away from primary carer) provided to children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities
