The Armed Forces Covenant Trust has a number of funding streams. This article relates to Veterans Community Centre Funding.This is a capital grant programme for the renovation and refurbishment of community centres used by veterans and their communities.
Ex-services personnel (and former merchant navy personnel) access a wide range of activities and supports through a myriad different organisations, venues and locations across the UK. This programme is specifically aimed at improving the fabric of premises regularly used by veterans and their communities, where the venue needs renovating or repairs, including adaptations, to encourage continued use and a significantly improved experience for veterans.
How much can you apply for?
- Band A – up to £30K
- Band B – up to £150K (in exceptional cases)
Funding is available for repairs, plumbing, electrical work, fixtures and fittings, architects, surveyors fees etc. Please note salaries will not be funded and neither will acquisitions of land. The charity must already have a community centre.
Who can apply?
Registered and incorporated charities or CICs who support the armed forces community, have an existing community centre used by veterans, and own their building or have a lease of 5 years or more.
Band A applications will close on 4 November 2019 and you can apply at any time before then. There are three cut-off dates:
- Round 1 – submission by 9 am on 11 March for decision before end of May 2019.
- Round 2 – submission by 9 am on 3 June for decision before end of August 2019.
Round 3 – submission by 9 am on 4 November for decision before end of February 2020.
