Applications invited to the Reading Community Energy Society Grants Fund

Community groups and charities are again invited to apply for the next round of Reading Community Energy Society Grants funding.

Projects can include installations of energy-saving lights through environmental awareness projects.

  • One grant was recently awarded to fund a vegetable growing project at Highdown School and Sixth Form Centre in Emmer Green. The school used the grant of £500 to purchase vegetable planters in a project spearheaded by a Year 8 pupil. Please click on this link for more on this project.
  • Another grant was awarded to True Food Co-op in Emmer Green and has slashed the amount of electricity used for lighting their shop by 65% after upgrading to LED lighting.  The not-for profit community shop received a grant from Reading Community Energy Society to help undertake the project, completed in August 2021, and they haven’t looked back. Grants are open to organisations which are not-for-profit, charities or small businesses and based within an approximate 10 mile radius of Reading Town Hall. Applications are administered on RCES’s behalf by Reading Voluntary Action.  Please email if you have any queries.
