Administration volunteer needed for Reading Family Aid

Could you be the wizzy Technical Administrator that we need for our amazing Christmas Toy project?

You don’t have to be a programmer but we need someone who is completely comfortable using and testing a small computer system and dealing with Excel spreadsheets and handling files. You must be precise and methodical. If that’s you, read on!

Each year we organise a huge Toy Appeal in Reading called ‘Toys & Teens’. Thousands of toys are donated by members of the public, schools, churches and business around Reading.

In a week in early December, the toys are collected together in a Church Hall, sorted and distributed to disadvantaged families in the Reading area where the children would otherwise be unlikely to receive any gifts at Christmas.

This is a major project which involves the whole committee, each taking on one or more roles. The Project runs mainly from June to December although this role is an all year-round role. This role is to be responsible for the testing, detailed preparation and running of the computer system we use to load all the family referrals and to manage all the packing and distribution of the toys. It does not require any programming ability.

It will take 1-3 days of your time each month from January to August, but from September to Christmas, it will take at least 1-3 days each week. And during the Toy Project week in early December (Dec 3-7, 2018) you will be expected to be there all day every day.

It would suit an IT Professional or IT proficient professional from another field with a lot of time on their hands. Perhaps you have recently retired.

Full training will be given and a gradual handover is envisaged. It is anticipated that this year you would be assisting and be fully responsible from January 2019.
