Would you like to get involved in one of Reading’s biggest annual projects and put smiles on hundreds of children’s faces at Christmas?

Coordination / Projects volunteers needed for Reading Family Aid

Would you like to get involved in one of Reading’s biggest annual projects and put smiles on hundreds of children’s faces at Christmas?

Each year we organise the huge ‘Toys & Teens’ Appeal in Reading. Thousands of toys are donated by members of the public and are distributed to disadvantaged families in the Reading area in time for Christmas.

The families are referred to us via Social Services, Health Visitors, Schools, Churches and other charities – we call these the Requestors.

We are looking for one or two people to help with the management of the referrals from the Requestors.

This involves:

  • establishing this year’s Requestor List
  • emailing forms for them to complete
  • validating the returned forms to ensure they are complete, accurate and understandable and dealing with any errors and missing information using our computer system
  • chasing up forms from those that have not returned them

You must have excellent organisational, interpersonal and computer skills and be really comfortable using email, internet, Word and Excel and computer file and programme handling and running.

It will take a day or two of your time each month from July to September, but from mid-October to early December it will take a total of 2-3 days each week spread over the weeks. Some of this time will be during business hours.

Also, you would be expected to help with the organisation of the Sorting and Packing of the gifts during the week 3rd to 7th Dec 2018.

This voluntary opportunity would suit a part-time or recently retired IT professional, Project Manager, Business Professional, Administrator or PA.
