Berkshire County Scout Council (BCSC) is a local charity supporting over 12,000 young people and volunteers in Berkshire. We are seeking a new County Treasurer. This important voluntary role involves the maintenance of the accounting records, with the support of a part time paid Administrator.
The County Treasurer is a Trustee of the charity and supports the work of the Scout County Executive Committee (CEC) and provides advice and support to the County Team.
The role involves the maintenance of the financial records and the production of bi monthly reports of the financial results of the CEC.
Xero software is used to hold the records and full training will be given to a candidate if they are not familiar with this software.
At the end of the financial year, 31 March, the County Treasurer prepares the annual accounts in conjunction with the Independent Examiners for presentation at the annual general meeting in early July.
The County Treasurer also provides advisory support for the Treasurers of the 11 Scout Districts which are all self-accounting.
This role is an opportunity for a recently qualified ICAEW, ACCA or AAT member or an experienced financial professional to make a very positive contribution to a successful organisation which is dedicated to the support and development of young people and the volunteers who work with them.
An additional benefit is the involvement with the charity sector and the opportunity to gain experience of working with volunteers.
The role includes a commitment to 6 CEC meetings each year and the Annual General Meeting.
The County Treasurer is also a member of the Finance and Risk Sub Committee which meets 5/6 times each year.
Full details of the role are available. For more information please contact Ian Aitken, Chairman, Berkshire Scouts County Executive Committee, firstname.lastname@example.org
Full hand over support will be given by the existing County Treasurer.
