Provide support and challenge to our school as a Foundation governor – St John’s CE Primary School

Trustee / Committee volunteers needed for Berkshire Schools Trust in RG1

St John’s CE Primary School is one of three primary schools in Berkshire Schools Trust. We are looking for two new Foundation governors who will embrace and uphold our Christian ethos, are passionate about giving children a great start in life and have the time to commit to six evening meetings and a few extra visits into school per year.

Our governors are there to support and challenge the school, making sure the children do as well as they can and that public money allocated to the school is being spent in their interests. This means being confident to read reports and financial information, to ask questions and to lead on monitoring a particular aspect of school activity, visiting school to understand the area and typing up your visit in a report to share with the rest of the board.

Our governors are an open and friendly group, ranging in ages, backgrounds and skills. We would welcome applications from anyone from the wider Reading area who would like to help our children to aim high and do well. We are particularly keen to attract someone with a financial background.

All applicants will be subject to safer recruitment procedures and any governors appointed will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.
