Trustee / Committee volunteers needed for ABC to read (Assisting Berkshire Children to Read)
Assisting Berkshire Children to Read aim to recruit, train and place volunteers in local primary schools to support children of primary age who are experiencing difficulties with reading and lack of confidence. The charity’s mission is to transform children’s lives by working with schools, families and the children themselves to provide high-quality support in developing literacy skills and building self-confidence. Reading is essential to every aspect of life and to be involved in continuing to help the children they work with is very rewarding you will be transforming children’s lives and breaking down barriers felt towards reading and education.
Our award-winning charity operates across Berkshire and is currently working in over 80 schools in the county. With a small part-time team of staff, they support over 500 children each year with over 120 volunteers.
We are looking to bring new skills, experience and insights to our trustee board. This would be a great opportunity for someone who has experience or an interest in the area of education and children’s development. This is an opportunity for someone to work with a great board of trustees who are dedicated to the work of ABC to read. On the board are ex-head teachers, and those in business as well as a treasurer. Specific skills in Business Development and Marketing would be of use to the charity in order to develop the charity further by being able to support more children within the community.
