Join our friendly team and help provide a cooked meal to those attending our over 50s club

Catering volunteers needed for Whitley Wood Community Centre in RG2

Our successful over 50s club is seeking new volunteers to help us to continue to grow and provide vital opportunities for members of the local community to come together, socialise, engage in activities and share a meal.

We are especially keen to recruit a kitchen assistant to support our very experienced lead kitchen volunteer.

Each week we provide a cooked two-course meal for around 30 people. We try to make our menus varied and also cater for specific dietary requirements.

The volunteer would be assisting by:

  • Helping with preparation
  • following instructions from lead volunteer
  • helping with serving
  • washing-up

For the right volunteer, there will be opportunities to take on more responsibilities, menu planning, purchasing ingredients and taking the lead on occasion to give our current hardworking kitchen volunteer a well-deserved rest.

The role might suit someone with a background in catering or someone with an interest in this kind of work looking to gain experience. Either way, you will be joining a friendly and supportive team of volunteers committed to making a difference to people in the local community.
