Stroke Association is the leading charity in the UK changing the world for people affected by stroke.
Recovering from a stroke can be a big change from how life was before. The Stroke Association helps people by providing long term social and peer support, The group helps in reducing isolation at a key time and also helps members rebuild their confidence.
The support groups are run by volunteers and a variety of tasks are shared amongst the team. Tasks may include:
– planning or coordinating activities for the group
– administrative tasks (keeping track on membership forms, contact details etc.)
– managing the group’s finance (ongoing management and fundraising)
– Facilitating the sessions by creating a meaningful relationships with group members in order to support their needs
You can choose how much involvement you have in the actual running of the group, from organising and leading the sessions to just helping make sure they run smoothly.
If you have excellent organisational and communication skills, you are enthusiastic and proactive and enjoy the company of others we would love to hear from you!
A friendly, outgoing personality and the ability to create a welcoming and supportive environment is essential in this role.
