Help us help people maintain their independence by being part of our mobility aids team

Administration volunteers needed for British Red Cross – Thames Valley Area in RG1

Mobility Aids Outlet Volunteer – Kindness is at the heart of what we do

If you like to help others, want to contribute locally in your community and have a few hours to spare we would like to hear from you.

The Red Cross is a volunteer-led organisation, that responds to local crisis’s as well as nationally. Often people are discharged from hospital without the short term mobility aids equipment that they need, or maybe they just need a wheelchair to take a parent to a hospital appointment. Whatever their need, we are there to assist them or to signpost them to the correct organisation.

To do this we are seeking volunteers for our local Mobility Aid Outlet in Reading. You will be helping to issue and administer a range of mobility aids equipment. You will be working in a small team and will receive training on the job as well as attending a two-day Induction Course.

Ideally, you will have good people skills, be willing to be trained in the safety aspects of our equipment, our procedures including a small amount of paperwork, our straightforward and easy to use computer system or, if you are not familiar with computers, you will be trained in how to demonstrate our equipment. Alternatively, we will be happy to train you how to use our people friendly computer system.
