Help this growing group run a new social support meeting

Leading group activities volunteers needed for Depression Xpression in RG1

Depression Xpression is a peer-led social support group for anyone who may be feeling anxious, sad, isolated or depressed.

Due to demand and the availability of a new venue, we are seeking volunteers to help us establish and grow a new monthly meeting.

As the Meeting Leader volunteer you will help the meeting run smoothly by:

  • Helping to set-up and tidy away the venue before and after meetings.
  • Providing a warm and friendly welcome to those attending the meeting.
  • Talking to attendees and gently encouraging them to participate in conversations and activities
  • Liaising with lead volunteers at the existing meeting to arrange guest speakers
  • Reporting to existing lead volunteers on how the new meeting is going.

Ideal volunteers for this role will need to have a proactive and determined approach to help establish the new meeting. You will be friendly and sociable with the ability to work with people from a variety of backgrounds in a non-judgemental manner. The ability to respect the confidentiality of those attending meetings is essential.

A background in the mental health field and/or lived experience of depression is desirable but not essential.
