Our volunteers support and enable people with a physical disability to take up, or return to, a hobby, interest, sporting activity or learning opportunity which they cannot do without some help or support. This support is mainly about giving confidence, understanding and emotional support to bring colour to our members’ lives.
We are looking for everyday folk who might have a few free hours each week to share an interest with someone with a disability. That hobby you’ve had for years might be just the thing that one of our Members is looking for. You never know – volunteering might actually add some unexpected colour to your life too!

Here are some examples of members we are working with at the moment:
A friendly partially-sighted lady who’s physically active with a can-do attitude and who enjoys modern dance and likes variety is looking for someone to help her try new things. She is interested in self-defence and is willing to try Tai Chi amongst other things. She enjoys pretty historic walks, local ones such as the Reading Abbey ruins, and would appreciate a car driver to go a little further afield, preferably somewhere sunny.
A very able lady, a retired midwife, with a robust can-do attitude, would like a gentle swim with the company of a like-minded lady at the Rivermead Leisure Centre, preferably on a Tuesday afternoon disability swim (2.30-3.30pm), though there may be a little flexibility on-time schedules. She is able to use public transport, however, a driver would be preferable in a befriender.
