Bring your skills to the mix and enhance our experienced board

Trustee / Committee volunteers needed for Support U in RG1

We are a leading Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) help and support service based in the South East of England. Our service is run by a dedicated team of volunteers who are responsible for delivering the help and support available through our website, telephone helpline and face-to-face sessions.

We are seeking to add new skills to our experienced trustee board and are especially keen to hear from people with skills and experience in the  following areas:

  • IT
  • Social Care
  • Safeguarding
  • Project Management
  • Finance

As well as providing specific insight to the organisation regarding their area of experitise, trustees fulfil a wide range of roles and responsibilities, including:

  • Ensuring that the charity has a clear vision, mission and strategic direction and is focused on achieving these;
  • Being responsible for the performance of the charity and for its “corporate” behaviour;
  • Ensuring that the charity complies with all legal and regulatory requirements;
  • Acting as guardians of the charity’s assets, both tangible and intangible, taking all due care over their security, deployment and proper application;
  • Ensuring that the charity’s governance is of the highest possible standard.
  • To act reasonably, prudently and collectively in all matters relating to the charity and always to act in the interests of the charity.
  • To be accountable for the solvency and continuing effectiveness of the charity and the preservation of its endowments.
  • Ensuring that the charity’s governance is of the highest possible standard.
  • To reflect annually on the board’s performance and your own performance as a trustee.
