Herjeet joined RVA in August 2016 as the Advice Worker, having previously moved into the voluntary sector following 5 years of practice as a solicitor. Herjeet has 4 years experience of charity management and brings the following skills: 1-2-1 advice, advocacy, document drafting, delivering training and mediation.
Herjeet oversees the Advice Service at RVA, advising voluntary and community groups on the legal and technical issues of running a charity or voluntary sector organisation, such as charity law, company law, employment law, contract law, health and safety, data protection, safeguarding etc.
She also helps organisations to develop a basic level of good governance in line with the Charity Commission guidance and Code of Good Governance, through supporting charities to attain the Safe and Sound Quality Award – Reading’s very own good governance award, which is recognised by key partners and funders locally and nationally.
Herjeet also delivers and arranges a wide range of training for the sector, on topics such as Trusteeship, Developing your Core Case for Support, Safeguarding and more, as well as working with colleagues at RVA and beyond to organise affordable local training for the sector.
